The Purse Project (2000-2007)

A multimedia production based on textual and interview adaptations of “purse stories.” Purses, bags, pocketbooks are everyday objects with symbolic value. Male and female characters tell true anecdotes of purses opened, stolen, and lost. Purses harbor themes of security, intimacy, materialism, and presence. Live music and video sequences delve deep into the purse’s profane and sacred social role.
